A shopping day with my wife -

I thought of sharing an experience we had while shopping.

As usual, my wife did all the hard work of choosing the right items with the best value for money while I browsed the net and did some window shopping. She placed them over the counter for billing — The lazy me acted like the wrong person at the wrong place and stood a little away from the scene.
I looked up when I felt like someone was addressing me-
The billing guy- “sir, …. is the amount”.
I turned back to my wife with all the disappointment of breaking my daydream.
She was already ready with her credit card.
I pointed him to the person standing just in front of him and went back to my lazy self.
Again he goes, “Sir, Password”.
I didn’t have any clue about the password.
I gently pointed to her. She typed the password.
I was again interrupted by another enquiry: “Sir, do you want the receipt”. At this point, I understood what is happening.
The person couldn’t digest the fact that a woman can have financial decision-making power.
So I switched to my lecture mode and calmly explained to him that she owns the card and I don’t have any idea whether she wants a receipt or not. This prompted him to ask her.
It was easy for me to say “no need of a receipt” as I know she prefers an SMS receipt rather than a printed one. However, that wouldn’t solve the real problem of a biased notion that financial power is all men’s.

NB: I need to break my laziness too.
